2009: "Not Enough Time"

Yeah...that's the name of the next 'street album' as some would identify it to be. I'm looking to release it in February if D.Jae Roots can get back to Atlanta to record it in January. I HATE coming up with dates and pushing them back. Anyways....I don't want to post the cover for it just yet. I just want to plant the seed in your mind that it's coming.

A Thought....

I should probably blog more on here, huh??? I don't know man, no one really even knows that I'm out here as far as the blogspot scene goes....That's pretty bad. I do a daily blog on myspace and my content gets friggin wiped out after a certain amount of posts and whatnot. I've lost some pretty valuable entries that will never be seen again. OUCH! I'm gonna start referring people to this blog. I think it'll open up the opportunity for folks to understand me better...my other stuff is like 'accomplishment 1', 'accomplishment 2', and so forth. That's not really what I'm about!!! Not that I'm deep, but I'm not that light in the brain either. lol

OKAYPLAYER??? Yes!

Dude/dudette, I first must admit I google myself and everything I'm involved with like a million times a day...And at times I get tired of the same stuff coming up but seek and you shall find, right? Indeed! So like...I found the hottttttttest shiza ever! The Up-Bringing 2.0 was mentioned in the OKAYPLAYER blogs yesterday!!! The Blogarhythms section. I'll copy and paste what dude said and provide the URL to where you can see for yourself. Anyone that's into hip-hop should know how tough it is to get love on OKAYPLAYER....Remember 'Get Em High' off The College Dropout? Talib said shorty "Always got something to say like a OKAYPLAYER hater." Well, there was no hate....Its all love dogggggg!

Here's the text: "If paying for records just isn't for you though you might be interested in The Up-Bringing 2.0 the new digi-release from New Haven, Connecticut-born, Bay Area-raised, Atlanta, Georgia-based 19-year-old named J.Nolan, which he's giving away as a free download! It's not even a mixtape, but a 21-track collection of all original tracks composed in collaboration between him and his cousin, beatmaker Young B Da Producer. The young upstart, a student of the Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco school of Rap, still has a lot of growing to do, but The Up-Bringing reveals him as a confident, creative kid who has a ton of potential. Admittedly it's refreshing to hear a young artist with such a straightforward take on Hip-Hop rather than latching on to whatever the hot underground trends or commercial fads are. Young B made him a stack of sample-based beats, many of which put an original spin on familiar records and grooves that have already been famously sampled, and J.Nolan poured words all over them until he had more than an album's worth of songs dealing with the life, love, fears, hopes and fantasies of an authentic teenager who dreams of being a rapper. He realized his dreams on his own terms, and didn't have to Soulja Boy himself in the process.

Man, I gotta give a huge thanks to everyone that's posted the "Soul Brother pt.2" Video on their blogs and websites and everywhere in between! I'm pretty sure there's plenty of people asking "who the flip is J.Nolan?" and I don't blame you for asking...It would seem like this video came out of nowhere. Contrarily, it did not! But that's for another discussion. So the thank you list, I really want to shout everyone out on my next project too cuz it's really a pleasure to be getting the love from everyone....These are all the people that will be named!

Flash Focus Forms Force

Turbo dropped the new mixtape Electro Rock v4 on Thursday- 12/4/08. I decided to wait a few days before posting it just for the sake of trying to help the cause continue. Anyone can post the first day, but who supports afterwards??? A question I personally have to ask a lot of the people that call themselves supporting my music. So as a fan/supporter of another artist with cutting edge product, I recommend that whoever may be reading this post go and get the mixtape!!! I don't promote anyone else's music on here so that says a lot about the quality.

The Up-Bringing 2.0

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Yeah man.....J.Nolan and Yung B Da Producer are finally back in business with this music. Which would be me and Yung B aka cousin B bka your new favorite producer.....With "The Up-Bringing 2.0", that is. So yeah...We're putting the project out on December 1, 2008 which is less than two weeks at this point. A full week and a few days or whatever. It's a pretty nice thing we have going man. Maybe we'll get some of the recognition we deserve with this one. Maybe not. Whatever, I don't do music for opinions although its nothing better than realizing that someone new considers their self a fan of my work. Now that's priceless. Anyway, make sure that YOU download it and burn copies for all your family members throughout the holidays. It'll probably be the first album anyone cherishes on Christmas within the last 5 years! lol, Anyone that's slept on my past projects needs to wake up quick, fast, and in a hurry.....You think I use too many commas??? lol

ElectroRock V4

Turbo is back to kill the game again with the 4th installment of the ElectroRock series:
Flash Focus Forms Force. This video is the official announcement to the world about its release date and a sample of his next Balrog themed record is played at the end.

Slightly Moved...

"my friend Vicki says hi and that she thought your name was J.Nickels.

&& she loves your music. "

That was kinda cool. I don't get many people that say hi and love my music at the same time. Normally it's hi, who are you? And my name is obviously J.Nolan. They don't bother to ask what the J stands for....Oh well. Or hi, check my music. WORSE. Whatever, that was cool.

Something You Should Know...

I'm about 85% sure that I will abandon the whole mixtape scene when I get into the music industry. I know that abandon is a strong word but whatever, I will. I mean at first yeah I'll do some mixtapes or at least partake in some. The act of doing full ones though, NO! Like after my first album...it's a wrap man. I've released like 7 in the past two years and they've recapped just about everything that could possibly be stated. Technically its 7 albums due to the subject matter. So I just want everyone to understand that. Not many people will see this post but I don't care. It's the internet, someone will see it. I'm not gonna front man...I'm TIRED. Like physically and mentally drained. I didn't really notice it until today when all I wanted to do was be away from EVERYONE and half-sleep. That's not a normal thing for me. For one, I'm ready to start working on my next project(s) and I haven't been able to begin recording. Studio withdrawal is a problem for me. I can't reproduce new music if I can't hear the new music I already need to do. It's like kicking someone after they're obviously dead. POINTLESS. I'm someone that thrives off of feeling. And I feel like shiza right now....The mixtape game is really killing me, if I never killed it I wouldn't have the small support I have now. But at some point you get tired. I'm at that point. I'm sure that mixtapes will not be something I frequent once I get in the game....

The Zshare Crisis...

For all the people out there that have been trying to download my mixtapes off of my myspace page and getting failed results, I apologize! Zshare has been undergoing maintenance and things have been uncharacteristically weird on there as of late. Well, after a few complaints I had to do some "applied problem solving" and create new links of the mixtapes.....Here they are:
I AM NOT A RAPPER- http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mtcw1nemxjz

All is cured.....Right?

Big-Ups to Turbo...

For featuring my "I Am Not a Rapper" mixtape on his blog about a week ago.
Here's a quote from the post:" i've yet to hear the whole thing but what i HAVE heard, very nice.
Usually within a few seconds into someone who sends me their music, I turn it off.
lol.
not this, though.
dope."
Definitely deserving of a Big-Up, wouldn't you agree???

My Ideal 1st Album........

Even though noone probably cares....The idea just popped into my head on who I want to work with on my debut album whenever God blesses me with the opportunity. I have enough music to compensate for like 12 albums already. haha
Anyway, I want Just Blaze to do my intro. Or Yung B and have Just do track 2. He always has the best intro/track 2 ideas. I'd like to have Madlib produce like 3 joints on there. Dude is too creative. I wouldn't mind the "single" being one of his tracks. And this Hudson Mohawke guy....My GOD! I'd trust a whole album done by him just on some ill-next-level-type ish. You'll hear me on 2 of his joints on my Melophobia project next year. They're off his instrumental album, but I have his contact so hopefully I can chop it up with dude. I always wanted something from Kanye, but it'd have to be out of his soulful collection. I'm trying to be that next big thing so I always need someone that can push the envelope to create classics. And honestly, I wouldn't need anyone else other than Mac Morrison. That's 7 producers....I don't want my sound to be like a collage. lmao
Yeah man. I'm thinking about having my debut be like 19 or 20 tracks. Everyone is doing 11 track albums these days that only have 3 good songs. I want EVERY song to be noteworthy. I swear man......If and when the time presents itself I will be so ready being that I've dealt with a lot of uncharacteristically sour apples already in the limited time that I've been around in hip-hop.

"I Am Not a Rapper" DOWNLOAD IT NOW....

"I Am Not a Rapper" Review pt.4

HOT OFF THE PRESSES!!!! Well, it just got submitted anyway....The final installment of pre-reviews or whatever you want to call them of the "I Am Not a Rapper" mixtape. So yeah. The homie Mike B. The Cool held me down with this one and it's pretty good. Definitely should prepare yall for tonight if you weren't already. This is daily BLOG 2 out of 3....The third: MIDNIGHT.
Mike B. The Cool's "I Am Not A Rapper" Review!
First off allow me to introduce myself to those who are not familiar with who I am...I Go by the Name of "Mike B. The Cool", I represent Chicago, IL and I have had the privilege along side my partner in crime "Young Fresh" to be able to play "J. Nolan's" Music on our past internet radio show (107.3 WICB - Beonair. com) we hosted for ten months, and J. Nolan was a featured artist for about 4-5 months with the songs "Shake Me", "Saturday Night Fever", & My personal Favorite ALL TIME.."Soul brother 1'...But Enough of the small talk, lets get down to business.........."I Am Not A Rapper" : The Mixtape! It's obvious to see where J. Nolan is going with the album title in separating himself from the so-called "Rappers" in the this so called "Hip Hop Industry"..And With this effort, he surely did...He couldn't have started the mixtape off with a better song.."What You Doin' Wit Ya Life"...which the concept of the song comes from the Movie "8-Mile" where he quotes "B- Rabbit's (Eminem) mother" for all you dummies who don't know your history...and basically addresses any and everybody who has a problem with him and his music...With this mixtape he states that he used all of other people's beats, in which i only recognized 6 of them..LOL... and I'm sure the 6 I recognized are the same ones ya'll were familiar wit LOL!! and those songs are where he displays his "lyrical boasting & bragging" as i like to call it on "Save The Planet (Nas- Hero), "Bobby Bonds" (Kanye West - Barry Bonds) and also "Smarten Up" - (Lupe Fiasco - Dumb It Down) among the others....Another song that stands out on this effort is "I Hate Swag Rap"...Now I know where he's going with the title.. Swag Rap nowadays are guys like "Shawty Lo, Gucci Mane, Rocko, Plies, shall Icontinue..basically GARBAGE NIGGAS! Now as much as J. Nolan Hates the word "swagger"..he displays "swagger" very while with the flo and punchlines ", and he's basically stating that these rappers nowadays need more than just "Swagger" to make quality music..and that "...He'll never perform first @ a concert"..The last song I'm a touch base on is my personal favorite off the mixtape.."Fresh Jazz In A Booming System"...If you Listen My boi "Young Fresh & Myself "Mike B"...Get A Special shout out on this record..., thats not the only reason why this is a stand out song...it also displays J. Nolan's "SWAG" HA HA, Lyrical content, flo, and punchlines @ Its BEST...where the concept of the song is basically, "....Steppin on kicks is a SIN" LOL...and goes at everybody whos NOT FRESH!! (and also has a skit from a Classic Movie "Do The Right Thing" for the dummies.....LOLIn a nut shell, J. Nolan HAS DONE IT AGAIN... This is just another stepping stone for J. Nolan...and I have to say this is one of his best efforts...Be on Look out for more of this young brother.......Honorably Song Mentions... "Buddhist Palm", "Obsessed Fans", "Don't Act "J. Nolan Is Cool...But Mike B. Is The Coolest!! LOLI'm Gone.....http://www.myspace.com/icb_finests ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------J.Nolan is Cool

"I Am Not a Rapper" Review pt. 3

Mary Knox Reviews "I AM NOT A RAPPER"

"Being a HUGE fan of hip hop, I jumped at the chance to be one of the lucky ones to preview the newest mixtape from J. Nolan.. "I Am Not A Rapper." I was beyond pleased that this starts off with an explanation of the difference between the emcee vs. the "rapper." I think it was an excellent start to the mixtape. It definetly gives you the much needed introduction to what you are about to take in on this mixtape.J. definetly shows his skills on ALL of the tracks, but I'll just touch on the ones that struck a chord in ME. Personally I think he totally snapped on the "Hero" beat.. Track 3's "Save The Planet" which many of you have heard on the myspace page, is a definite attention getter. I went out to a hip hop outing, and heard the "Hero" song, and all that was in my head was "I save the planet, u niggaz watch.." CLASSIC. Another, is "Back On The Scene," Track 6. This is one of my favorites, hands down. This track brought a smile to my face when I heard the beat kick in, it takes you back to the days when hip hop was in its rare form. It's the shortest musical piece on the mixtape, but if you love it like I do, you'll be playing the track TWICE. Another ear catching track is "Obsessed Fan." This has a storytelling type of vibe that true heads can identify with.. has a bit of an old school feel, almost reminds me of the head nodding vibe that "Poor Georgie" had on my life from MC Lyte back in the day. It makes you really listen and think! My favorite track is "Smarten Up" .. he rides this beat like a champ.. confident sounds all around. This one will keep your head nodding.. "..i'm rappin it up like i'm wrappin it up, ya career is a gift and i'm wrappin it up.." NUFF' SAID.The last track i'll touch on is "SoUrban Style." He definetly holds his own on this jazzy track.. this just proved 2 me that he can hold down whatever you throw his way. He ripped part of the verse wit the beat playing in reverse.. I was sold!!Needless to say, my cd player will probably wear this mixtape out, but will be well worth it! Although beauty is in the ears of the beholder, I can assure you will NOT be disappointed. Make sure you download J. Nolan's mixtape "I Am Not A Rapper" THIS friday, 9/26.P.S. Peace UP, A-Town Down goes out to Lil RockRawk! lol! :)~Mary Knox~"
Thank you very much! Very similar standout tracks so far for those that have heard it, I'll have to put one of those up pretty soon. I'm super anxious to get this mixtape out!

"I Am Not a Rapper" Review pt.2

Jarrian Wilson aka JayWill reviews the mixtape for me....Check out what he had to say about it!!!

"First let me start off by saying this is long overdue. I was suppose to have this done days ago, but due to some technical difficulty I was delayed. But here it is, the review of one of the hottest mixtapes I've heard this year(and that's speaking in the terms that KidNfinite and myself haven't dropped our mixtape yet). But back to the subject at hand: J-Nolan's I'm Not A Rapper mixtape.
This is truely one of first mixtapes I can put as being one of the hottest mixtapes I've heard of someone who is not signed yet. It truely takes your mind into the life of the kid J-Nolan. He speaks on many subjects in this mixtape. Some of the songs could actually make very worthy radio cut tracks.
I'll give you a couple of the tracks that stuck out to me. Out of 19 tracks including three skits, four songs truely were those that I just had to play over and over again. My number one track is" Whatcha doin with ya life" where he depicts the struggles that he faces in the eyes of others who don't believe in his dream of being a great emcee. My second is" Bobby Bonds" where he truely showed off his metaphorical style showing that he can keep up with any artist if not exceed. My third is his freestyle "Back on the scene" where on this up beat track in one verse he spits nuclear style fire making you have to nod your head and make you think of the 90's style when it was just pure Hip Hop. And of course his critically acclaimed "Save The Planet" over the Nas "Hero" beat he talks about how he wants to save the state of Hip Hop.
This may only be a mixtape but its a worthy veiw of what we can expect for the future of Hip Hop. If you want to find J-Nolan go to www.myspace.com/jnolaniscool. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed in what you hear.
Well I'm signing out.
This is Jarrian Wilson aka JayWill da Hitman saying look out for my boy J-Nolan. And follow the link to get to his page."
Job very well done guy! If you're reading this, please make a note of some sort that you will be able to download this mixtape FRIDAY....SEPTEMBER 26th!!! For FREE of course. Real hip-hop music is coming back man....And I'm not the one telling you anymore. I can't wait to hear more opinions!!!

The [Fresh Produce] Update!!!!

Okay, so basically the old cover for my mixtape has been replaced. Some of you may be familiar with the one in my previous post but I had to make it a bit more explicable for the mixtape itself. I actually did this about a month ago but I haven't been blogging on here since the mixtape release. Therefore, I have to update it.....And now, it has reached over 100 digital downloads. Which wouldn't seem like a lot. Hell, I don't even think its a lot for how much work went into it and the caliber of music being displayed for a FREE mixtape. I could've put out a normal joint with industry beats and saved the songs for an official album or something. Oh well, people will catch on. But I do give HUGE thanks for the 100+ people that showed support thus far. Well, enjoy the new cover, download the mixtape for I will include the link to it, and enjoy your time as a J.NOlan supporter. I know I will....

The [Fresh Produce] Release!!!

Photobucket

Alright, its been quite a while since I posted a blog on here, I've been kind of swamped with that whole myspace thing...lol, Those of you that know me should know what I mean. But check this out- I've been working on my 2nd mixtape of the year since about February and a lot of crap has taken place between then. I came up with about 4 different names for it and seriously thought each one would be the official. None of them ended up being the official. lol
I lost my recording space and was out of commission for like a month and a half just writing with nowhere to get the music done....Then, D.Jae Roots came along and everything was cured! Cuz there are still some cool cats that walk this earth these days...What a relief!!!! Hence, [Fresh Produce] has been completed and you can now check it out!!!!
